Chasey Lain (Adult Star) Talks about her life in and out of the Adult Industry

Chasey Lain has already won pretty much every award there is to win in the adult industry from Best New American Starlet in Cannes, 1995 to the eventual Hall of Fame induction.  She’s made 156 magazine appearances including 56 covers but she’s also been one of the most visible stars outside of XXX.  Since the late 90s, Chasey has accumulated far more credits in music videos and mainstream films along with Playboy TV and Howard Stern appearances and probably trails only her buddy Ron Jeremy in “regular” appearances.  She’s an interesting girl to talk to with equal parts southern charm and high energy workaholic being in her personality.  We caught up with Chasey recently to ask her about some of that and a little bit more.  Read on….

Legendary Rock Interviews:  You’re a southern girl originally….what was your upbringing like?

Chasey Lain:  Normal.  I went to High School and grew up in North Carolina, it’s not something I usually talk about but it was a pretty average upbringing.  My great, great grandpa was Henry Clay who ran for President and may or may not have been on the radical side, I don’t know if that explains anything about me or not (laughs).  I always thought my Grandpa was big into the Free Masons which he wasn’t he was in an organization even older than that and everytime I’d ask what it was about they’d be like “What do you wanna know about Grampa’s secret little meetings, go find somethin else to do girl” (laughs).  My Grandma was also an Eastern Star which was the women’s masonry and all I can tell you is we had a LOT of bakesales!

LRI:  Awesome, well thanks for talking to us.  I know you recently had to change your cellphone due to some stalker types.  Sort of ironic in a sick way.  You of course had a song written about you by The Bloodhound Gang about a stalker sending you letters…, “The Ballad of Chasey Lain”

CL:  (laughs).  Well, yeah, letters are one thing but once they get a hold of the phone number everything turns to shit you know?  Those guys had me on their album as well.  I think they really thought it might do well overseas and it went to number one in Germany  or something but they never really predicted it would be all over here in America.  The lyrics were so explicit.  I love music so it was a lot of fun.  It’s hard to not love music when you’ve feature danced for 15 years on the road!  I listen to all kinds of music.

LRI:  After North Carolina and high school  you went to College in Florida and started exotic dancing….what gave you the confidence or interest to get into dancing?

CL:  In College I broke my shoulder blade in a car accident and my roommate was dancing.  I was faced with the decision, do I wanna go home or do I wanna stay in Florida?  Which was easy, I wanted to stay in Florida!!  I guess it wasn’t that hard to dance.

LRI:  You’re pretty, much prettier than a lot of girls who get into the business.  Were you used to getting a lot of attention for that by then?

CL:  I don’t know (laughs).  I mean not really more than just high school “You’re cute” shit or college shit.  I sure as hell wasn’t wild with guys or doing anal or anything, hell I still haven’t done that onscreen.  I’m sorry John, I guess I’m fuckin boring (laughs).

LRI:  It’s okay.  I’m not really pushin for anything if you don’t have it to offer.  Tori Welles talked to us and had some stories and some of you girls are definitely just wilder than others.

CL:  Hahaha!!  Tori Welles, I can tell you a great fuckin story about that girl!  She was apparantly into bondage or something and one time was having a really good time with a guy and left him tied up to a bed and had to call someone else to untie him and set him free because she was off and out of town doing a movie or something.  So, that’s my Tori Welles contribution….that crazy girl!

LRI:  Ok, well was it a pretty easy transition to go from dancing to XXX movies?

CL:  Well, yeah, it wasn’t very hard.  I won Miss Tease in a Jim Holliday film, at that point I had only ever done the dancing and some nudity in a film and I won an award for best tease and figured “okay, I’ve got the taking my clothes off part down” so the next step was logical I guess.  The first hardcore movie was “The Original Wicked Woman” which was kind of funny or different in the sense that it was shot around and involved me getting a boob job in the movie.  The reality of it was that I wanted to get a boob job and we were in the middle of doing the movie (laughs).  So we shot one half of it and then shot the second half but the only reason was cuz I wanted a boob job (laughs).  I really was lucky to get in with Vivid when I got in, I had the same manager as Kaylan Nicole and Alexis Deville and a lot of the other starlets.  I really never took a breath or step back and looked at my career because I was so busy just wanting to keep working.  I still work, I work on my production company Forbidden Cinema, I work at the Bunny Ranch, I work in mainstream stuff, I work on my website.  I mean I had a son and slowed down for a while and take breaks when I need to but as long as I am busy and have something lined up I am happy.  I actually like being at the Bunny Ranch as opposed to feature dancing which is what a lot of girls do during the week.  That’s a long week of work when you are feature dancing at some club and this offers a bit more freedom.  I got into a lot of the mainstream stuff because of my good friend Ron Jeremy who I’ve known since I got into the business.  I got my Screen Actors Guild card through him and worked on a bunch of music videos and the ORGAZMO movie with Trey Parker and Matt Stone from South Park because of Ronnie.  I first did the TALES FROM THE CRYPT movie Demon Knight which was made by some of the same people who shoot the HBO show here at Bunnyranch called CATHOUSE.  Ronnie is very, very dear to me and all the mainstream stuff I’ve done whether the music stuff or Spike Lee, it’s all because Ron Jeremy knows EVERYONE!

LRI:  Was it fun doing the Orgazmo movie with Matt and Trey?

CL:  It was, what was funny about that is we shot that as a little independent movie and then low and behold Matt and Try blow up and it’s on every single movie channel and special edition DVD and on and on.  My dad called me after he saw it on Cinemax or something and was like “What is this?” so it really ended up being seen by everyone which is great. The Spike Lee movie “He Got Game” was fun, I talk to Ray Allen still.  He’s been on my Facebook page (laughs).  He was like “Hey Chasey, do you remember me?” and I was like “Sure Ray, of course I remember you!”  We were actually talking about when we shot that movie all those years ago.  I’ve seen Spike Lee at a couple of Playboy parties too.  The other box office movie I did was Evil Breed which was fun because it was a horror movie and I got chopped in half (laughs).  Jenna Jameson was in that too.  I love horror movies and sick shit like that.  I’m doin another horror movie called “Cold Plastic” and a TV show for HBO, not the Bunny Ranch show CATHOUSE but another show called GIRLS NEXT DOOR.  Those are the two mainstream things I’ll be doing in 2012.

LRI:  You looked great in ORGAZMO and it was cool they used actual porn stars.  Is it basically the same thing to work on music video shoots?

CL:  Kind of John, and thank you by the way….they’re basically little mini-movie shoots.  Instead of taking months they take days or whatever but they’re pretty similar.  They can be a lot of fun,  I did the “Wrong Way” video for SUBLIME DETROIT ROCK CITY thing for EVERCLEAR and bunch of other ones that were fun.

LRI:  As far as the hardcore stuff that you’ve produced or directed was there anything that was particularly awesome to you?

CL:  The “Chasin Pink” series.   It was all girl and very successful and I think it’s because I really LOVE girls (laughs).  I wouldn’t mind bringing that back and seeing how that goes.  We get a lot of couples here at the Bunny Ranch who come out to Vegas and stuff and they always bring up those movies to me.  It was a lot of fun.

LRI:  There were a lot of rumors swirling around about you when you left the industry.  Did that bother you?

CL:  No, once again, Ron Jeremy said, about the rumors  “it’s boring and nobody gives a shit, once you come back, they will go away” and he’s right.  My son is 13 years old and I don’t regret walking away for a while.

LRI:  Is it hard balancing a career where you’re literally doing all these different things  and raising a kid?

CL:  No, John, because everybody in the porn industry my age has kids and families.  I’ve been under contract since I was 18 and it’s all I’ve ever known.  To me, I’m NOT different from anyone else other than the way I make a living in fact, I’m fuckin boring like you said….

LRI:  Well, I didn’t say it YOU did (laughs).  But I know what you mean and that’s actually the reason I do these interviews with adult stars.  In addition to the fact that people may be interested in your lives I have really wanted to present all of you guys in the most NORMAL light as possible.

CL:  Well, that’s cool because we are real people with real feelings and we’re not evil or mean.  Take Ron for instance, he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and if you talked to him you”d see that instantly.  I mean the guy is just super smart and super sweet and nice but nobody wants to talk about how goddamn normal we all are.  We raise our kids and love our families and get our mail and wash our cars and do everything else that you or your wife do.  It’s really not as far out as people think.

LRI:  I’ve seen the Cathouse TV show and it looks pretty laid back.  Is it as casual and low pressure as it looks, like a customer doesn’t have to have a few thousand bucks or a cuban cigar to hang?  Is Heidi Fleiss around?

CL:  Heidi is around, she is awesome.  Dennis is wonderful, you should interview HIM, I was telling him that.  I’m not here all the time but everyone out here is really cool and equally approachable.   I know that he started this club to be for regular guys, you don’t have to have a ten inch cock and while a ten inch wallet is nice you can approach any of us or talk to any of us without one.  I’m very sociable and nice to everyone.  Andy Kauffman and his manager found out about this place years ago and it’s just become a world unto itself ever since.

LRI:  What it’s like being on Howard Stern and Sirius?

CL:  It’s fun.  Howard’s really sweet and he’s good people.  I think he’s a LOT different off the air than he is on the air but he’s really fun and interesting and he’s a nice person.  It’s fun getting out and doing stuff like that.  I like to stay busy and if I get out of the house it’s to work or do promotion.  I find that the busier I am the less likely I am to get in trouble (laughs).

Another really wonderful little interview! 🙂 Chasey was always one of my favorites. Only (minor) criticism of this interview is that it’s a bit on the short side; would like to have had a more in-depth read. In any event, these interviews with adult stars are really fun. Keep ’em coming, John!!

I grew up w/ Chasey (Tiffany) in Newport, NC and went to High School together. I’d really like to see her make a come back in the industry, start using social media and put up her own website.

Any ideas what she is doing these days?
