Nikki Delano (XXX starlet) talks workouts, confessionals and the adult biz

Having interviewed a bunch of different adult starlets, it was clear within a few minutes off talking to Nikki Delano she wasn’t really like many of them.  She laughed about recent tweets that were sent to her about why she wasn’t “hardcore” enough, she was incredibly punctual and nailed the interview, so to speak, the exact time it was scheduled and she told me that if anyone saw her in the gym working out she’s expect them not to stare.  I wasn’t sure if I was interviewing the nice, shy catholic schoolgirl (which she coincidentally, was,  the sharp witted smarty-pants with the Bachelor’s in Forensic Psychology or the crazy porn girl who appeared as “Shakira” and starred in “American Dad XXX”.  I think she wants to keep her interviewers guessing, read on…

Legendary Rock Interviews:  Thanks for talking to us Nikki.  I know from your stats that you’re a very petite five foot two inches and that you’ve got a latin, Italian and multicultural background.  You’re also a New York girl born and raised right?

Nikki Delano:  Yes.  I lived in pretty much every borough just because we moved around so much but managed to still be a good student and stay pretty grounded.  I was on the honor roll and maintained an 85 average and was pretty normal aside from occasionally cutting class or shit.

LRI:  Yeah, you’ve got a pretty interesting background having a degree in Forensic Psych and getting into porn.  That’s quite a stretch for the average person to wrap their head around.  Was it difficult to convince all your normal or “civilian” friends that you were not insane?

Nikki:  No, I mean, for a while I kept it under wraps.   I really knew that my family, I know they knew about it but they wouldn’t really accept it.  I mean, I was always into porn and always really sexual but then when I was working at a bank I was approached to do a scene for (adult company) Brazzers.  Then it only took like one more scene and my family found out.  At that point I was like “Ok, fuck it.  I’m gonna do it, I’ll deal with the consequences later”.

LRI:  With that degree and your minors in similar studies do you think you’d be a cop for NYPD if you weren’t a porn star?

Nikki:  Probably, yeah.  It’s hard to say though.  I might have still found my way to where I’m at even if I went and worked in my original field.  I love what I do now and I’m very driven.

LRI:  You grew up in a fairly strict Catholic home, correct?

Nikki:  I did.  I even went to Catholic School.  They wanted me to wait until I got married to have sex and all that and (laughs) I’m not married yet.

LRI:  Well, there’s one particular film you’ve done involving a confessional and some ummm, confessing that you were very believable in.

Nikki:  (laughs)  That scene was so funny.  We were just laughing about how funny it was and how we both felt playing those roles but then we started wondering if we could actually be sued by the church or the Diocese or whatever.  Then we started laughing again. If any of my family or straight-laced friends saw that scene I never heard about it from them (laughs).   Some of those roles like that are so much fun when you get to actually play a part.

LRI:  That’s pretty much what’s still good in the  business in my opinion is that ability to make people laugh and be something onscreen other than yourself or a random hot chick on-screen.  There needs to be characters or something somewhat entertaining other than sex.  The old movies from back in the day had that and now a lot of the parodies like XXX Star Wars or your Shakira one are bringing back some of that.   You nailed her mannerisms and her look completely, How did you wind up becoming “Shakira”?

Nikki:  Well, for that one I actually had a choreographer who worked with me on all of the moves and all the things you’re talking about.  It didn’t hurt that I’m really the only blonde, curly-haired, petite, latin girl in the business so I was pretty well cast in that one.  It was a lot of fun for me to do personally and anytime I see it I remember how much fun we all had

LRI:  You’ve been in the business for a couple of years now.  Have you gotten involved in any celebrity relationships with actors or musicians or do you try to steer clear of all that?

Nikki:  I know that a lot of girls do that and that’s fine but I really like normal guys.  It sounds crazy but it’s true.  I will meet guys in the XXX business or in entertainment or music but I don’t want to have a relationship with them, I really don’t want to have all that involved in my personal life.  I just like regular guys with regular lives.

LRI:  But unless you’re dating a guy and you have an open relationship or something that’s pretty much a lot for the normal guy who’s driving a UPS truck and not banging other girls at his job.

Nikki:   Dating is so hard!!  (laughs).  I know, I know.  Most guys really don’t  understand that this is really a JOB.  It is, it’s a job, it’s my career and the guys I date or who can seriously  hang with me have to realize that they have to be a certain level of open-minded in order for it to work.   I know it sounds double standard but in my personal life I really like to keep it one on one and normal.  I had one guy I was dating who said that for it to continue there would have to be a threesome with another girl.  It never happened (laughs).  I would have been willing to maybe put on a show for him with another girl because I love girls and most guys love to see that but it never got that far because he was a real hothead.  So yeah, to answer your question, dating is difficult.  (laughs).

LRI:  All those habits that led you into getting higher education or running a successful  business probably make you a pretty challenging girlfriend aside from all of the additional stress or pressure concerning your XXX stuff.  Do you think you’re a handful?

Nikki:  I’m more than a handful (laughs).   It’s not always easy or as simple as guys make it out to be in their mind when they first think of dating me.   First of all, I’m something of a perfectionist going way back to like you said, school or work in general.  If I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it to the fullest extent of my capabilities and I’ve been that way since I was a little girl.

LRI:  The girls that are icons in XXX are the ones who are able to see the big picture and view themselves not just as a girl or a contract performer but as a business owner or even a brand.  It sounds like you really get that.  Is that entrepreneur end of things appealing to you despite it being a lot of work?

Nikki:  It really is, I enjoy it so much.  I don’t just shoot scenes and fuck, it’s really an enterprise.  I feature dance all across the country and go on tour, I host VIP events, I own and operate my website and actually do all of that as well as the social media stuff.  There’s a lot more involved with this than just showing up to have sex.  You have to be able to do much more than that to have any longevity in this industry and I enjoy that challenge.  To me, that’s more fun than anything.

LRI:  The whole feature dancing thing sounds like a bit of a grind.  I know when my wife and I have gone into clubs and seen girls it’s obvious within about 10 or 30 seconds which girls hate being onstage and which ones love it.  Be honest, is that the toughest part of what you do?

Nikki:  Honestly, no.  I mean, I’ve always liked dancing and the travel can be fun too.  I know what you mean though, some girls are clearly having more fun than others and to them it probably really feels like a lot of work.   I enjoy it, I like getting the audience involved and turning them on and being able to actually say hello and meet people.  Almost everyone is really nice and it’s also, again, great business.  There is nothing like word of mouth advertising and feature dancing really gives you an opportunity to actually meet and get to know the very people who you’re doing all this for.  I really like it, even when I am not at a club but hired to do like private events or bachelor parties.  I really treat it like it’s an art because it is.

LRI:  You have so much planned and you’re pretty calculated.  Do you eventually want to do like most girls and just transition into mainstream media or entertainment?  Is that a primary goal?

Nikki:  It is.  A lot of girls try to transition into horror movies or comedies or whatever mainstream work they can.  Other than a few exceptions there really haven’t been too many who have made the jump into serious, big budget dramas or regular movies but I’d really like to. Usually it’s like the average B or C grade horror flick or sexy low-budget late night comedy and that’s the extent of it.   Once you make that jump there’s really no going back to porn either because then you run the risk of losing whatever momentum you gained being outside the industry.

LRI:  Okay, I’ve taken it easy on you.  Now onto some of the shit people have tweeted and you’ve tweeted back.  One day you were speaking on the importance of gym etiquette because some guy was drooling over you while you were working out.   You do understand what you look like and how most guys are attracted to you, correct?

Nikki:  (laughs).  Yeah but if you’re serious about your workout you should focus on it and not me.  I mean it’s also just proper etiquette to not stare at people and make them feel uncomfortable in public, at least it should be.  I don’t even dress all hot or anything.  I’ll wear like sweats and a t-shirt with my hair in a ponytail and it still happens (laughs).  Comon, guys, I know you’re naughty and horny and you think with your dicks but I’m serious about my workout and you should be too if you’re there!!  (laughs).

LRI:  What about the people who have taken you to task for not being “hardcore” enough.  They will mention what you haven’t done onscreen as far as particular things and say that you’re too soft.  How do you deal with that?

Nikki:  There’s one guy who’s always buggin about me not doing anal sex or someone else bugging about gangbangs or other things like that and that’s fine.  I’m fine with guys who like that and girls who wanna do that but at the same time I haven’t chosen to and I don’t really respond well to people trying to bully me or say I’m not “nasty” enough. My website is plenty dirty let me tell you, that’s why I think it’s so crazy that a few random people will say that.  I do the content I like doing because if I didn’t it wouldn’t be sexy and it wouldn’t be real.  If someone wants to see me, come check out the page at www.nikkidelano.com  and see for yourself.
